Seattle, WA (Aug. 13, 2015) — Madshus, the world’s leading performance Nordic ski company, is pleased and honored to announce the 2nd annual Peter Hale Memorial Scholarship Program. Madshus will select one promising young male and female athlete, whose team will then receive a full Madshus set up of skis, bindings, boots and poles to aid in their continued ski development. The scholarship recipients will be announced in the Fall of 2015.
Peter Hale committed his life to the Nordic skiing community through his many years as the Race Director for Madshus. After a long battle with cancer, Peter Evarts Hale (66) passed away on November 17, 2013 in his hometown of Bozeman, Montana. The Nordic community lost a great influencer, but through his scholarship program, Peter’s legacy will leave a great mark on the racing community and Nordic industry at large for many years to come.
Throughout his career, Peter supported countless up-and-coming Nordic racers with Madshus racing equipment. He was constantly seeking out the next great talent and always there to lend support on race day. Many of the athletes he helped sign to Madshus have gone on to achieve national and international success. “Peter had the biggest heart of anyone I’ve ever met. He believed in me from the moment he met me,” comments US Ski Team athlete Noah Hoffman.
Conner Truskowski (Alaska Pacific University Jr. Team) and Erin Moening (Endurance United Team) were selected as last year’s inaugural winners of the scholarships. Scholarships will continue to be awarded based on nominations submitted to Madshus and will take into account the following criteria:
- High school-aged athlete (14 to 18 years)
- Demonstrates an unwavering commitment to Nordic skiing within his/her community
- An exceptional ambassador for the sport
- Demonstrates great potential as outlined by his/her coach and peers
All nominations must be submitted to the Madshus Marketing Department c/o Carmi Schulman (email@example.com) by September 15th, 2015. Madshus will announce the winners in early October.
